A Reversal of fortunes? The Reversa range of screens has been in the market for a little while now, with some subdued results. However, a determination by Reversa to make their screens accessible to more users, by pricing the screens more competitively, looks set to come to fruition. It is fair to say that many users have shied away from rear projection screen applications due to its expense and quality. When Reversa launched its innovative range in 1999 the step up in quality and application flexibility was impressive. However, its affordability was still difficult to justify, no doubt compounded by the rapid fall in price of flat plasma display technology. This differentiation in price is being addressed and the technology holds great potential. C Hear recently took stock of an Eclipse II rear projection screen for evaluation, and we were not disappointed! The Reversa is only a few millimetres in thickness and very lightweight (it weighs less than half a kilogram) Upon first impressions it seems difficult to believe that this piece of acrylic is anything special. That is until you power on the projector. The result is simply stunning. The image can be viewed from both sides of the screen, offering endless application uses, and when hung on thin steel wire from a distance, the image seems to be suspended in mid-air, focusing attention on the content rather than the screen. In addition, it was not necessary to utilise an extremely powerful projector in order to achieve this superb image. We set the screen up in our reception area, which is flooded with ambient light and currently is home for a 4,000 ANSI projector, with a 2500 ANSI portable projector and had no problems viewing the image. There is no doubt that the gain properties of this screen allow for stunning results. The Reversa Rear Projection Screen is very durable and weights less than a half a kilogram. The screen is extremely portable and unlike traditional fabric screens, Reversa will look great for a very long time. It does not crease or rip and can be wiped clean in seconds. Whether ceiling or frame mounted, using the mounting system supplied means the Reversa can be installed in minutes. Overall the Reversa screens look set for a bright future.
